Women's Studies' Scholarship Recipient Realizes Impact of Mentorship

Skye Firestone, a senior Liberal Studies major with minors in Math, Women’s Studies, and Secondary Education, is grateful for receiving the Lancy C. Jen Scholarship. The honor, she says, has given her the "freedom to take on more." Something she has certainly done.

Firestone's love for education is not only evident in her course load, but also in her commitment to the students she works with as a Peer Mentor and as a tutor in the Learning Center. She credits the mentors in her life, such as Women's Studies Professor Marlene Howell, with her decision to become a teacher.

Learn more about Firestone's excitement for teaching.
