Doctoral Student Awarded "Mark of Distinction" by NASAPh.D. student Jeremy Shaw and his Mathematics and Statistics advisor Professor Dacian Daescu have won a prestigious NASA Earth System Science Fellowship for their project on increasing accuracy in weather prediction. Psychology Team Takes on a Difficult MissionDr. Jan Haaken, professor emeritus of psychology, a clinical psychologist and documentary filmmaker, embedded with troops in Afghanistan last summer to shoot a documentary on stress in war zones. Armed with a team of psychology students and her seasoned film crew, Haaken followed military therapists as they prepared for their mission and reflected on the impact of psychology on the soldiers.
